Chitina Guest Cabins

At the gateway to Wrangell St. Elias National Park

From our cabin guest books......

You can see it, you can hear it, you can feel it!  We could never even dream about a place like this surrounded by fantastic beauty!  Here, the sounds of the native melodies join the wind in its everlasting song.  And here, in this welcoming home is the kind of soul of Alaska!  We are sure no one has left this place without carrying a piece of its warmth in ones heart... neither did we.  Thank you for making our trip memorable!!

Alaska - the way it used to be!   Alaska - the way it should be!  Dear Kris Mike and Niishjaa, thank you so much for your hospitality.  It is hard to put into words how much we loved it up here, but we sure felt like family!

This is by far the nicest place we stayed in since we came to this beautiful country!  Your warm welcome and hospitality is exceptional and made our stay even more special.  We will cherish this experience when we return to busy Belgium.

This is a magic place... We felt so safe and comfortable and so warmly welcomed by our new friends Kris and Michael, that it is hard for us to leave again.  It is not easy for me to express in a foreign language my feelings, but I can say, that this is one of the few places in the world, where I am at home.  Thanks Kris and Michael for your great hospitality!

The peaceful serenity of this place is beyond relaxing.  We had the best nights sleep ever.  Thanks for your hospitality.

Words can not be enough when it comes to thanking you for what you have provided for us.  you all are awesome and your home and cabins are awesome.  From the first moment we met we could feel the love you have to share with your guests and this great place in Alaska.  Thank and and may many blessings blow your way!

For all three, you have made our trip to Alaska unique.  The cabin, the food, the stories but most of all the inspiration of your lives.  you guys seem like you found what life was all about.  We sincerely hope to see you again.  I don't think we will be able to give you the same rich experience, but you have a home to stay in anytime you need.  You are all very courageous and we wish you the best for all.  Till next time,  much love and thank you.

What big luck for me, I found you on the internet.  I loved two really wonderful nights in this for me unprecedented cabin.  The fancy bed, the furnishings and all the little things, not to forget this sophisticated devise for drinking water.  Everything fits together.  I like it all.  All the "Heart" you put in everything, makes this place so wonderful!!  But, first of all I would like to express my thanks for your really great hospitality.

We fell asleep listening to the sounds of the stream, wind in the trees and raindrops on the roof.  This cabin, tucked away in a beautiful rugged canyon, epitomizes my idea of Alaska.  What a wonderful place you have here.  Good Luck to you and thank you for allowing us to share your dream.

This is comfort in the "wilds of Alaska".  The cabins are so well thought out.  All of the comforts of home.  Coffee in the room in the morning, who would have thought with no running water and an outhouse? (a first class outhouse too)  It is a pleasure meeting both of you and we loved camping out in such style.  We will definitely stay with you next time we are in Chitina.

A rustic haven filled with luxury.  Thank you for the Salmon Filleting lesson and the delicious Salmon.  You are a couple for all seasons with many talents..

What an artistic labor of love you all have created here in this most magnificent part of the world.   All the details thought out to make our stay more comfortable are a delight and so appreciated.  The coffee maker, candles, little fire place, cd player, chocolate and beverages, etc etc etc, what a treasure you have here.  We treasure your friendship Kris and Mike!  Love especially to our dear little owl, Niishjaa.

Thanks so much Mike, Kris & Niishjaa for your wonderful welcoming spirit.  We have traveled many places and this little cabin in the woods is our favorite!  Thank you for sharing your lives and your sacred space with us for this short visit.  We are so grateful for our time spent here that we are sad to leave.  This was truly a wonderful experience.  We cant thank you enough.  Thank you Niishjaa for the rock candy and sour berries.

What a great joy it was to spend the night here!  Your warm hospitality and graciousness is truly what Alaska is all about.  Even living in Fairbanks for over 30 years, I've not run across a more wonderful evening.  Thank So Much!

Thank you for the hospitality here in Chitina....  Now I know why my father loved this place so much!  Brining his ashes back to this beautiful place, full of memories, dreams and experiences has changed my life and helped bring the circle together for myself, my father, and the community.

We cannot express our thanks for your hospitality and generosity, but I seek to try.  From the soft inviting beds to the toilet experience to the unreal salmon filet, this visit has been a joy.  Mike, Kris & Niishjaa and even the dogs have been kind to a degree above and beyond, and this place, this cabin, is a delight!  They have provided both a rustic space for every need, something I would not have thought possible.  Even the music in the CD player is apt for the mood and spirit of this place.  I and my companions were instantly at ease here.  Mike and Kris, you took us into your home, you showed us what life is like here.  You offered us comfort in a place many would find difficult, and you did it willingly and with joy.  Thank you.  This two night stay, out of 2 weeks in AK, has been the best, most memorable part!  We are in your debt.  Until the winds bring us back here....

This has been a truly wonderful vacation thank you so much.  The cabin is beautiful and relaxing and your hospitality is second to none.  I am looking forward to next time.  Grandpa Tom

Two days of cozy living, a true taste of old Alaska.  Hospitality at its finest with stories of Chitina, native peoples and the warm breakfast.  Frozen mornings warmed by this great handmade cabins, thanks for being open and generous with your life!

When we were told we had reserved a "wilderness cabin", we really didn't know what to expect.  We have been literally blown away by your amenities and whole cabin experience.  It has always been my dream to sleep in a bed with mosquito netting and everything else you have provided was excellent and wonderful!

Very unexpected experience!  Great to see others share Alaska as it should be seen, a kind and wonderful place to be shared by all who come.  Thank you so much!

We had a wonderful stay here.  I have never stayed at an inn with no running water and it was a wonderful experience!  If ever we are here again, this is where I will stay.  We loved it!

Thanks for letting us stay in your lovely cabin.  This is by far the nicest place we have stayed.  We love what you have created out of the wood that surround you.  Thank you very much!

Absolutely splendid, a gem tucked away in the woods!  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

This place is so magical I didn’t want to go to sleep!  I wanted to savor every moment.  Next time a longer stay!

A wonderful, magical setting for an almost story book little cabin, a place I’ll recommend to all others I know who are passing near by.

We felt as though we were good friends or relatives rather than paying guests.  Your warm, caring hospitality has made our trip and we’ve yet to put our nets in the water.

The cabin was warm, cozy and has all the amenities to make for a perfect stay.  It is definitely our cup of tea and we will be back.  Thanks again for making it a very special occasion.    Ps.  We know you have special artistic talents but the triple rainbow was bloody magic…..

What a pleasant surprise and what a wonderful find!

That’s one of the best nights sleep I’ve had in a long time.

During our three weeks in Alaska, this has been the most beautiful and cozy place to spend a night.  We will remember it, along with your warm hospitality.  Thank you!  We hope to come back in the future and find it the same way.

This was exactly what we were looking for!  The cabin is beautiful and we had a wonderful, restful stay.

There is no word in the English language that perfectly translates the German word "Gemuetlich" - if anyone asks me to explain, I will send them to your cabins because you are "Gemuetlich" to perfection!
